Decarbonisation pathway for vessels towards 2030

We are on track to meet or exceed our target to reduce Tank-to-Wake CO2 intensity by 45% by 2030.

This will be accomplished by a combination of efficiency measures, technical upgrades, and by introducing new, low- and near-zero-emission vessels into our fleet.

Every Minute Counts

Our ‘Every Minute Counts’ programme is a combination of schedule optimisation and slow steaming on routes across our entire network. This initiative radically reduces the emissions from our existing vessels.

Staff and terminals at the routes involved work closely together with our central teams to ensure that we still maintain the same great level of service while reducing emissions, through performance dashboards that are updated and reviewed every week.

‘Every Minute Counts’ is a long-running exercise that will be essential both before, during and after our transition to non-fossil-based fuels. It ensures that we keep focused on using the least possible energy to achieve the best possible results.

Decarbonisation techniques

Our pathway to net-zero consists of the adoption and implementation of a combination of four key techniques that either reduce energy usage or replace fossil-based energy sources with renewable sources.
