What are the check-in times at the different ports of DFDS? And how much luggage can you take on board? Read all about luggage on board and check-in times here .

LUGGAGE

Did you take a lot of luggage or have you shopped a lot in England? At DFDS we have a standard maximum of 50 kg of luggage per passenger. The luggage must be taken by yourself from and on board. Please note that there are no luggage carts.

Safety

If you have baggage that may cause inconvenience to your fellow passengers or crew, or baggage that may endanger the safety or security of the ship, you may not take these on board. For security reasons, our security staff has the freedom to search you or your luggage at any time.

Tip: You spend the night on board both on the outward and return journeys. Pack a separate bag with necessary items so that you do not have to take your entire suitcase out of the car to the cabin.

Risky substances

Rules have to be complied with for gas bottles and petroleum. For gas bottles, a maximum of 47 kg applies (these may not be connected and must be switched off). It is not possible to take petroleum as a passenger. This is possible via freight

CHECKING IN:

Ijmuiden

The ferry departs daily from 5.30 pm from IJmuiden.

Travelers by car: The check-in times for car passengers from 1 April to 19 November have changed. We start the check-in from 13:00 instead of 14:00 . The boarding time is 14:00.

Check-in: 1:00 pm - 4:45 pm Boarding: 2 p.m. - 4.45 p.m. Travelers on foot

Check-in: 1:00 pm - 4:45 pm Boarding: 2 p.m. - 4.45 p.m.

Newcastle

The ferry leaves daily at 5 p.m. The check-in closes at 4.15 pm at the latest. Make sure you are on time.

Boarding: 14.30 p.m. - 4.15 p.m. Travelers on foot can check in 30 minutes earlier on Friday and Sunday

Dunkirk

The crossing via Dunkirk has 12 sailings per day. Check in typically closes 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT). However, in high season and during the holidays, check in closes 120 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT).

Check in will close promptly, therefore, we advise customers to allow plenty of time prior to departure to pass through all controls.

Dover

The crossing via Dover to Dunkirk has 12 sailings per day. Check in typically closes 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT). However, in high season and during the holidays, check in closes 120 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT).

Check in will close promptly, therefore, we advise customers to allow plenty of time prior to departure to pass through all controls.

Calais

The crossing via Calais to Dover has 10 sailings per day. Check in typically closes 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT). However, in high season and during the holidays, check in closes 120 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time (GMT).

Check in will close promptly, therefore, we advise customers to allow plenty of time prior to departure to pass through all controls.

Copenhagen

The ferry departs from Copenhagen daily at 3.00 p.m. Check-in closes no later than 15 minutes before departure.

Check-in: 12:15 pm - 2:45 pm / Boarding: 12.45 - 2.45 p.m.

Oslo

The ferry leaves Oslo at 3.00 pm daily. Check-in closes no later than 15 minutes before departure.

Check-in: 12:15 pm - 2:45 pm / Boarding: 12.45 - 2.45 p.m.

Kiel

The ferry departs from Kiel daily at 9 p.m. Check-in closes 1.5 hours before departure at the latest.

Check-in: 6 p.m. - 7.30 p.m. / Boarding: 6 p.m. - 7.30 p.m.

Klaipeda

The ferry leaves Klaipeda daily at 10 p.m. Check-in closes 1.5 hours before departure at the latest.
