After Brexit: a new ferry line between Rosslare and Dunkirk will allow trucks and their drivers to travel directly between EU countries without the need for paperwork.

On January 2, 2021, DFDS will start sailing on this new dedicated freight route between Rosslare in Ireland and Dunkirk in northern France.

The route will be served by three vessels, each with a capacity of up to 125 trucks, with individual cabins available, in compliance with COVID-19 barrier measures.

Six weekly departures per port will be offered, in the afternoon or evening, with a 24-hour crossing.

A route that remains within the European Union's single market and customs union

"We are extremely pleased to be able to offer our customers in the Republic of Ireland the opportunity to transport their goods directly to and from other EU countries without the customs formalities and waiting times expected of road transport through the UK as we approach the end of the Brexit transition period," says Peder Gellert, Executive Vice President of the Ferry Division.

For drivers and close to major destinations

On arrival from Dunkirk or Rosslare, fully rested drivers will be able to get back on the road immediately and access many major destinations within their legal driving time.

The new route will bypass the UK's transit route and open up new direct trade opportunities within the EU's single market.
