NEW TERMINAL IN DUNKIRK!
After a year of work, without interruption of the activity on site, the new terminal of Dunkirk is now operational. The list of novelties: • The construction of the DFDS building at the entrance to the site, including a ticket sales area, offices and social premises; • The construction of the registration barrier at the entrance of the terminal (check-in); • The refurbishment of the ferry terminal to accommodate passengers waiting to board their vehicles, as well as the installation of a giant information screen for users.
Objectives:
• Reduce the loading and unloading times of ships and improve the safety conditions of the personnel in charge of these operations;
• Fluidify and speed up controls, improve the safety and clarity of customers' journey from the entrance to the boarding car parks;
• Improve access to the terminal from highways;
• Increase the capacity of pre-boarding car parks.
The refurbished terminal now extends over an area of more than 17 ha compared to 10ha of the old configuration. Signaling from the motorway has been reinforced and access to the site by trucks and light vehicles has voluntarily been separated, providing security and fluidity of these two types of user categories. The terminal has at the entrance of eleven recording channels including one dedicated to coaches.
DFDS welcomes its customers in a new building of 350 m2 located at the entrance of the site. All the installations necessary for the controls by the French and British administrations have been rebuilt with the aim of a perfect readability of the way for the customers.
The new terminal has a double fence and surveillance cameras to ensure the safety of its users. Once controls are completed, customers have a large boarding car with a capacity of 7,380 ml or 41 parking lanes, two of which allow the parking of special trucks. The car park can accommodate the capacity of three ships. On the waiting boarding area the refitted passenger terminal and an information screen allow customers to comfortably await the departure of the ship. Share this page on Facebook:
