DFDS reassures passengers after announcement of UK government-imposed fortnight
The ferry operator will continue to operate its passenger routes between France/Netherlands and the UK
The company offers the DFDS Travel Guarantee, allowing passengers to cancel and rebook without charge up to 24 hours before departure
Numerous measures have been put in place on board to respect social distancing
Friday 14 August 2020 - Following the UK government's announcement that people from France and the Netherlands will be put in isolation for fourteen days, DFDS would like to reassure its passengers that its services will continue.
The company, which operates 57 crossings a day on its Calais-Dover and Dunkirk-Dover routes as well as 3 daily rotations between Dieppe and Newhaven and 1 between Amsterdam and Newcastle, will continue to operate its services between the continent and the UK.
"Customers who have already booked or are considering booking can be assured that we will continue to operate our passenger routes between France/Netherlands and the UK.
Even though the arrangements have changed for what they need to do on arrival, we continue to provide them with a safe and smooth way to travel to and from the continent," said Kasper Moos, head of DFDS' short routes and passenger business.
DFDS has implemented numerous security measures on board its ships to ensure that passengers and crew can travel with peace of mind. These measures include the reinforcement of cleaning points, the reduction in the number of passengers on board, the use of hand sanitisers at all points of contact and the compulsory wearing of masks on board the ferries between France and England.
On the France-UK routes, all bookings include a free meal in on-board restaurants, so passengers do not have to interrupt their journey to stop for food before boarding. On the Amsterdam-Newcastle route, passengers have the opportunity to dine together, a little further apart, with pre-booked dinner and breakfast options that can be selected during the online booking process.
For added peace of mind, DFDS offers customers a travel guarantee, which means customers can cancel their trip and rebook for a later date free of charge. All they need to do is call DFDS on 02 32 14 68 50, up to 24 hours before their scheduled travel date. The travel guarantee applies to all travel bookings up to and including 31 December 2020.
Further information on DFDS services and the social distancing facilities on board the company's ships is available here.
Passengers are advised to consult the latest travel information for the UK, France and the Netherlands for information on how to seclude themselves and whether they need to provide their contact details on arrival at their destination port.
We ask that passengers only travel to the port if they have made their booking in advance.
