The capital becomes illuminated in November as preparations for Advent begin the turning on of the city’s Christmas lights. By December, Christmas is in every shop window, and street corner, as beautifully adorned trees are erected across London.
Take yourself out the centre and into the residential boroughs, such as Holland Park, Knightsbridge and Regent’s Park, where houses are decked with the most ornate decorations and lights and you can often catch local choirs singing carols in the streets and churches.

London looks spectacular during festive period with Christmas lights both in the small streets and in the bigger avenues such as Regent Street or Oxford Street. Do not forget to make a detour to Trafalgar Square to admire the beautiful 20 meter high Christmas tree.

London offers a range of Yuletide markets across the city. From Greenwich Christmas market to Leicester Square Christmas market, there are plenty of festive bazaars that will fill you with the magic of Christmas.
Christmas by the River is an artisanal Christmas market set against the impressive backdrop of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is a uniquely charming event, given the already beautiful natural setting. The annual market is complete with a traditional market, ice rink, ferris wheel and rides.
Christmas entertainment
Enjoy the after-dark Christmas Show at Kew Gardens with extraordinary illuminations, carousel rides, shops and the chance to meet Santa and his elves.
You can also enjoy the giant ice rink in Hyde Park or skate in the beautifully illuminated Somerset House.
