Whisky has been produced in Scotland for many centuries, and it is not without reason that it is the national drink of the Scots. There are a total of five whisky regions in Scotland: Campbeltown, Lowland, Islay, Speyside and Highland. The basic production process is identical. However, the distilleries in the different regions produce unique characteristics and flavors, because the aroma of the whisky depends on where it is produced. The water source and the presence of peat influence the taste of the whisky.
