Believe it or not, Britain is perfect for summer holidays. Extensive beaches, chalk cliffs and atmospheric fishing villages fill the coast. Not only rain but also the sun often shows itself and it often provides a wonderful temperature. Not too cold, not too hot. To give you some inspiration for your upcoming summer holiday, I have highlighted the 5 nicest and cosiest seaside resorts along the English coast, which are definitely worth a visit!

1. Brighton

Brighton

My favorite is Brighton, one of the largest seaside resorts on the south coast of England. On the large pier on the boulevard of the city there is a fair, super cool! Brighton is full of fantastic restaurants but you just have to taste the Fish & Chips here. Served in an old newspaper (as it should be) with handmade fries, the best indulgence you can imagine. For dessert, you should definitely go to Choccywoccydoodah, where cakes are works of art and too good to pass up. Besides the beach, there is so much more to do. Be sure to visit the Seven Sisters Cliffs, seven chalk cliffs that come close to each other. This is the most beautiful place on the English coast.

2. Porthcurno

Porthcurno

Located at almost the tip of the south-west of England, Cornwall is the gem of seaside resorts. For a moment you get the feeling that you are in the tropics. Along the coast you will find palm trees (yes real palm trees), white sandy beaches & colored flowers, truly a paradise. Not very unimportant, the temperature is pleasantly warm on this piece of subtropical English coast. In addition to the breathtaking nature, there is also plenty of history to see such as the Church of St. Levan. Also take a trip to the famous Land's End, the most south-westerly tip of England.

3. Torquay

Torquay

This city is part of the Riviera on the English south coast. It has beautiful sandy beaches and the cooling water of the Torbay is for real diehards. Next to the beach, the promenade is perfect for taking a walk and eating well. Torquay has a Living Coast Complex where you can get a good idea of life on the coast around the world with penguins, seals and other sea creatures. Visit the Maduro Dam of southern England, Babbacombe Model Village, and see Stonehenge & the landscapes of England in miniature!

4. Tenby

Tenby-Wales

This pretty little seaside town is located in South West Wales in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. This area is perfect for taking a nice walk along the coast or on the city walls of the city. With boats you can go to the monastic St. Catherina Island or at low tide you can walk to the island! The fort in this island gives you a good impression of the history of Wales.

5. Blackpool

Blackpool

This seaside town in Lancashire, North West England, is truly authentic. With Pleasure Beach (a super cool amusement park on the beach), the iconic Black Pool Tower and three piers, this place offers plenty of opportunities for a nice holiday. When you go further inland, you enter the Forest of Bowland protected area.

Holiday on the English coast

Fancy a holiday on the south coast of England? Take the ferry to Dover and you'll be in the South of England the same day! If you prefer to go a little further north, it is best to choose the DFDS ferry to Newcastle.
